Charge transfer at organic donor-acceptor interfaces
The project is focused at studying dynamics of excitons and charge-transfer states in photovoltaic blends and organic solar cells, and their relation to morphology. The ESR will spend 6 months at Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona, to be trained on structural investigation techniques, to confront morphology characterization with the results obtained by ultrafast spectroscopy. The ESR will also spend 1 month at Heliatek (Germany) to learn the organic solar cells manufacturing techniques.
The University of Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen), was founded in 1614 and is the second oldest in the Netherlands. With its 6500 employees, it houses ~30000 students (incl. 3750 international students) and 1500 PhD students, 48% of whom are international. It belongs to the top 100 research universities in the world and is a member of the distinguished international Coimbra Group of European universities. The University of Groningen is in the top 3 of European research universities in the fields of Material Sciences and Chemistry.
The Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials (founded in 1970 as the Material Science Centre) which is ranked as the 9th (1st in Europe) best materials research institute based on publication impact. Its approximately 250 physicists, chemists, and biologists work together on fundamental leading-edge research in materials science. In the national evaluation in 2010 the Zernike Institute was ranked "exemplary".

Mr. Benedito. A. L. Raul received his BSC degree in physics from Fatih University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2015. He obtained his Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Science and Technology from École Polytechnique (Université Paris Saclay), Paris, France, in 2017.
After obtaining his BSC degree, he went on to take a one year (2015-2016) Academic Preparatory program for Master of Science in Electrical-Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. During his time at Bilkent University, he also worked as a Teaching assistant in the same department.
In 2016, he received the Total S.A International scholarship program funding to pursue his master’s degree at École Polytechnique. As part of his Master’s Program, he worked at Imec International (Leuven, Belgium) as Master Thesis student in the Development and Characterization of wide band gap perovskites for tandem solar cells application.
Currently, he is a PhD student at University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His research focuses on studying ultrafast spectroscopy dynamics of novel organic materials for photovoltaic applications.
